Project 1
Reading the Contexts of Traditional Streets
In this project, we were required to choose a traditional street from a list of streets provided to study their distinctive place contexts. We then have to identify its physical and non-physicals contexts and compile our findings in a 10 page sketch journal. Our findings may be assisted by various forms of references such as books, articles and journals.

I feel very fortunate as through this project I was given the opportunity to deep-dive into the history of my chosen traditional street, Jalan Tun HS Lee, and how it became what it is today. I was also able to discern the physical and non-physical contexts of the street which made me have a stronger connection with the traditional architecture in Malaysia and how important it is to preserve our heritage as Malaysians. Not only that, I was also able to practice sketching and line-art through producing the sketch journal. What I could have improved on my sketch journal was the layout. I learned that it is important to draft the layout beforehand and asking for other people's opinion can help improve the overall composition of the sketch journal.
