Sustainable Design Policies & Regulations.
This module introduces students to environmental issues and gives them a better grasp of the intricacies and impacts that the built environment has on the natural environment. The goal of the module is to impart environmental literacy as well as an understanding of policies pertaining to sustainable design and practices.
Project 1
The goal of this first assignment is to raise environmental consciousness and provide an understanding of building and environmental standards, laws, guidelines, and regulations. It is also our responsibility to recognise and comprehend its influence and repercussions. We first form a group of 4 to 5 students and we were assigned one environmental theme in this project. We will review articles and create a living poster to present the key themes from the articles.
Project 2
We were given the task of choosing one local building about which we wanted to learn more. Then we had to choose an SDG target to investigate in relation to the building, and then we had to find characteristics of the building that had responded to the SDG. We had to extract and present the SDG goals, targets, and indicators, as well as demonstrate how architecture reacts to each goal using diagrams and words to produce an A3 digital poster.
