Research in Asian Architecture
In a group of 6 to 7, students are to identify a significant issue from Project 1 findings. After determining a direction for the project, students are to conduct extensive literature reviews to identify specific issues of study and scope of study. A research title that reflects the research intention and specific scope of study must be generated in order to represent the significance of study. Based on the observations from Project 1, my group decided on focusing on Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and it's adaptive re-use of traditional architecture. Our method of conducting research was mainly through reading journals and articles on google scholar and Taylor's University Library. By doing so, we were able to find case studies of adaptive re-use of traditional architecture which maintains the cultural identity and architectural significance of its traditional facade. Throughout this project, I have learned the importance of heritage conservation and its effects on society.
